With my feet on the dash, the world doesn’t matter…
Happy Monday loves!
I hope you had a great weekend – mine started with a quick trip to Des Moines, which is about 2.5 hours away. I truly cherish the road trips that Justin and I take, it’s our time to be silly, listen to the music we love and chat. I love being in the passenger seat next to him.
Today’s song is just that – Passenger Seat by Death Cab for Cutie. I can remember the first time I heard this song – my lovely friend Mandy had it on a mixed CD she made me (haha) and I fell in love.
It reminds me of driving down country roads at that perfect time of year when cool air gathers in the valleys of the hills and you get a little chill. I imagine floating my hand on the air outside the window and silently listening to our favorite songs. Such a great feeling 🙂
Do you remember having to watch the original version of Romeo and Juliet in school after you read the book? At my school, we were lucky enough to watch parts of both the 1968 version and the 1996 version, and after seeing Leo play Romeo, I fell in love.
The Leonardo + Claire version of Romeo and Juliet is still one of my favorite movies – after just watching the video below of Des’ree’s Kissing You, I’m running downstairs to get the dvd and pop it in to watch while I work.
Gahh, I LOVE it!
Pride can stand a thousand trials The strong will never fall, But watching stars without you, My soul cried.
Seriously, don’t you wanna watch the whole movie now? Do it!
It’s weird how things work out – I had this entire week planned to be a circus/carnival/boardwalk theme for months without knowing I’d be working on a design project that is boardwalk themed and planning a trip to an amusement park/boardwalk this week too.
I’m not hating it though – I love the bright colors and fun designs you can do for a boardwalk or circus theme!
Today’s song has the same theme – it’s Marching Bands of Manhattan by Death Cab for Cutie, and it’s been one of my favorite songs for years. It’s a little melancholy at the end, but the whole first part of the song talks about what someone will do for love.
My favorite line:
If I could open my mouth wide enough for a marching band to march out they would make your name sing, and bend through alleys and bounce off of the buildings
Take a listen to the song – I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do 🙂
Stay tuned for more carnival fun this week! Plus, I’m announcing a giveaway later today!
Are you ready for the 4th? I’m mainly looking forward to a mid-week day off of work and celebrating my little niece’s 5th birthday – what are your plans?
Today’s song is another one by James Morrison and it’s called Better Man.
I’ve said it before, and I’m gonna say it again – I love Mr. Morrison’s raspy voice!
My favorite line:
You are all that I need, For you, I give my soul to keep You see me, love me, Just the way I am For you, I am a better man You are the reason for everything I do I’d be lost, so lost without you.
Happy Monday! I hope you had a GREAT weekend and got to celebrate Father’s Day with your loved ones!
I took a mini road trip to see one of my favorite bands, Anberlin, play an acoustic show. I think seeing bands live makes me appreciate their music so much more, and I know I’ll have my Anberlin playlist on Spotify on repeat for the next few weeks.
One of my favorite songs of their’s is called Time and Confusion. It’s about making it through the hard times together, and even though things may not be ideal, you’ve got each other.
My favorite line:
When memories fade We’ve got each other When time and confusion collide I hold it all when I hold you
I truly feel this way in my relationship with Justin – when I have him, I have everything I need. That’s what love and marriage is all about 🙂
It has been an amazing whirlwind of a weekend – I got to celebrate the holiday with the wedding of one of my very best friends. It was such a gorgeous day + I’ve had SO much fun the past few weeks helping her get all of the details in order. I am so happy for Lindsay + Eric – they’re perfect for each other.
Today’s Music Monday is a song by Michelle Branch: It’s You.
Such a simple and sweet song. My favorite line:
If tomorrow never comes I would want just one wish To kiss your quiet mouth Trace the steps with my fingertips
