After 8 days in the mountains, we are finally home again + I’m diving into my first full week of working on my own! Time to dig down deep and get this business thing all figured out!
Today’s song is a little more upbeat than most of the songs I choose, and I think it’s a fun one.
It’s Countdown by Beyoncé, because everyone needs a little Beyoncé in their life, right?
Some fun lyrics:
Damn I think I love that boy Do anything for that boy Boy! Now I’ll never be the same You and me until the end
And the video? You’ve gotta check it out – it’s pretty fun!
Hope you had a lovely weekend, I spent mine working on invites + brunching with my mom + her college friends to celebrate her birthday – it was a pretty good weekend.
Today’s song is sort of a blast from the past for met – Hold My Hand by New Found Glory. It’s upbeat, fun and I still love it almost 10 years later 🙂
First of all, it’s more upbeat than most of Mat Kearney’s previous songs and it has style… I mean it mentions Anthropologie – my favorite!
Second, his personal style oozes retro, preppy and vintage…also my favorite! He is one of my favorite artists, he is truly talented. This song is about the day Mat met his wife, I’m going to post pics of their wedding later this week, because I’m telling you – it’s gorgeous. I think the reason I like his songs so much is that he writes what is real, and he writes a lot about his life and relationships.
That’s why today’s song is Hey Mama by Mat Kearney
The lyrics are fun and SO sweet, and the video is super cute too.
One of my favorite lines:
I met her at anthropology, Purple boots and her golden dreams…
Adorable. See/Listen for yourself.
She don’t know what she wants to be With all the pictures in the magazines Holding hands when she’s mad at me ’cause she don’t wanna go, don’t wanna go
I met her at anthropology Purple boots and her golden dreams Standing there like a Tennessee queen Singing don’t look at me, don’t look at me
Singing oh oh won’t you help me sing this song Singing ee ee ee She don’t ever want to go to sleep
Singing hey mama, don’t want no drama Just a kiss before I leave Hey lady, don’t say maybe You’re the one that I can believe
Hey lover, don’t want no other finger for my ring
Hey mama, hey hey mama Hey mama, hey hey mama Hey mama, hey hey mama Hey mama, hey hey mama
Oh oh Ooh oh oh oh Ooh oh oh oh
I can see it in her Cherokee eyes Those baby browns and the golden thighs What you doing for the rest of your life? Cause you don’t want, don’t wanna go
Singing oh oh won’t you help me sing this song Singing ee ee ee She playing like a mystery
Singing hey mama, don’t want no drama Just a kiss before I leave Hey lady, don’t say maybe You’re the one that I can believe
Hey lover, don’t want no other finger for my ring
Hey mama, hey hey mama Hey mama, hey hey mama Hey mama, hey hey mama Hey mama, hey hey mama
Oh oh Ooh oh oh oh Ooh oh oh oh
Couldn’t be more opposite I’m hard to please and you’re hard to get You’re Mississippi and I’m Oregon You’re sun tanned and I’m porcelain skinned.
