Happy Monday! I hope you had a GREAT weekend and got to celebrate Father’s Day with your loved ones!
I took a mini road trip to see one of my favorite bands, Anberlin, play an acoustic show. I think seeing bands live makes me appreciate their music so much more, and I know I’ll have my Anberlin playlist on Spotify on repeat for the next few weeks.
One of my favorite songs of their’s is called Time and Confusion. It’s about making it through the hard times together, and even though things may not be ideal, you’ve got each other.
My favorite line:
When memories fade We’ve got each other When time and confusion collide I hold it all when I hold you
I truly feel this way in my relationship with Justin – when I have him, I have everything I need. That’s what love and marriage is all about 🙂
I hope you had a wonderful weekend – mine was full of garage sales, graduations + time in the sun. With grad season comes engagement season which is my favorite time of the year! Congrats to anyone who got engaged over the weekend 🙂
Today’s song has been one of my very favorite songs for a while now, especially since I got my husband to like Mat Kearney too (and dress like him.. I love it). The story behind the video for this song, Ships in the Night, is so fun – he travled to 165 different locations around the US and sang the songs hundreds of times to shoot this video. Another fun note – the woman in this video is his wife! She’s so darn adorable, they might be my fav celeb couple.
My favorite lines: We’re just fumbling through the grey
Trying find a heart that’s not walking away
Feels like we’re learning this out on our own
Trying to find a way down the road we don’t know
I love this song because he doesn’t sugarcoat things – marriage is hard but when you find that heart that’s worth it, you can make it through anything.
Watch the video, you won’t be disappointed.
Sorry for such a long post, I can’t help but ramble on about my favorite artist. Mat Kearney never ceases to amaze with with songs that somehow fit every aspect of my life.
I celebrated my brother’s marriage on Saturday and it was such a special day. After being married for 8 years and it not working out, they decided to end it. They never lost their love for each other though and found their way back into each other’s arms again. My favorite part was watching them dance to ‘True Companion’ just like they had always talked about. Brought tears to my eyes!
Now on to today’s song.
I’ve loved Michelle Branch’s music for years – I remember listening to her Spirit Room CD on repeat when it came out.
She has come out with some new stuff recently that I am in love with, and today’s song is one of them – Loud Music.
Here’s one of my favorite lines:
It was like my life began that day I still remember what the jukebox started to play And then we had to take it on the road Start me up like a rolling stone
