Music Monday: Ships in the Night

| Inspiration, Life, Music

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend – mine was full of garage sales, graduations + time in the sun. With grad season comes engagement season which is my favorite time of the year! Congrats to anyone who got engaged over the weekend 🙂

Today’s song has been one of my very favorite songs for a while now, especially since I got my husband to like Mat Kearney too (and dress like him.. I love it). The story behind the video for this song, Ships in the Night, is so fun – he travled to 165 different locations around the US and sang the songs hundreds of times to shoot this video. Another fun note – the woman in this video is his wife! She’s so darn adorable, they might be my fav celeb couple.

My favorite lines:
We’re just fumbling through the grey
Trying find a heart that’s not walking away

and

Feels like we’re learning this out on our own
Trying to find a way down the road we don’t know

I love this song because he doesn’t sugarcoat things – marriage is hard but when you find that heart that’s worth it, you can make it through anything.

Watch the video, you won’t be disappointed.

Sorry for such a long post, I can’t help but ramble on about my favorite artist. Mat Kearney never ceases to amaze with with songs that somehow fit every aspect of my life.

Have an extra lovely week this week!

Wordy.

| Inspiration, Wordy

I’ve been totally inspired by every piece I’ve pinned to my Wordy Pinterest board lately, so I’ve decided to start creating my own collection to add to it.

And I’ve been listening to Mat Kearney non stop since he released his music video for Ships in The Night earlier this week. He is my favorite, check out the video here.

Today’s Wordy comes from his song Young, Dumb and In Love and it is one of my favorites off his Young Love album.

Pin it, print it, share it with your friends.

Happy Friday! I’ll be back with my Love/List a bit later today.

Music Monday: Breathe In, Breathe Out

| Inspiration, Music

Hello there!

Hope you had a gorgeous weekend!

Today’s song is another one by Mat Kearney – Breathe In, Breathe Out

I went to an acoustic show and heard him sing this song with just him and his guitar – absolutely amazing. His musical skills are perfection.

One of my favorite lines:

We push and pull, & I fall down sometimes,
I’m not letting go,  You hold the other line.

Watch the music video below.

Have an amazing day today!

Music Monday: Young, Dumb and In Love

| Music, Wedding Ideas

It’s no lie that I love Mat Kearney – I’ve feeatured his songs on Music Monday before.

His new album, Young Love, came out earlier this year and within about 2 days I had memorized all the words to every song – I listed to it during my workout, on my way to and from work and all day at work for about 2 weeks straight.

Instantly, my favorite song was Young, Dumb and In Love.

I loved this song so much because I feel like I could relate to it.

‘To be honest, I fell for you that first night..” – I mean, that was totally my relationship with Justin.

I love how sweet all his songs are, and his relationship with his wife is so adorable. I mean, how cute are they?

Here’s my favorite verse – probably because it’s about their wedding day:

Well, under the weeping willows and a sea firing flies

With your gypsy necklace and my big brown bow tie

You kissed my lips like I was catching a flight

I said if I’m honest I fell for you that first night

If I’m honest I fell for you that first night

To be young and dumb and in love…

This would be an amazing first dance song because it’s upbeat and you can have some fun with it.

Do you love it?

Music Monday Remix: Hey Mama LIVE

| Music, Wedding Ideas

Yesterday I got to see Mat Kearney live in Des Moines, and the concert was amazing.

He is such an amazing performer, he even walked through the crowd for an entire song.

At the end of the song, you’ll notice a little boy up there breakdancing – so cute! His wife even joined him for his show in Des Moines, she is adorable 🙂

Here is Hey Mama live in Des Moines:

If you ever get a chance to see him, I highly recommend it.

Hope you had an amazing weekend!
