Last October, I came home from New York City to find 2 massive holes where walls used to be – my husband had decided to start our kitchen remodel while I was away. We desperately needed an update – I mean look at that sconce above the sink! Totally not our style.
After 3 long months with a makeshift kitchen set up in my laundry room, I finally got my new kitchen and I’m sharing a few before + after photos today!
Justin did everything himself in the remodel, from ripping everything out down to the studs, adding a bigger window, framing in the new openings, drywall, floor, trim, cabinets – he even put the cabinets together!.. He is truly amazing + talented.
We’ve still got some trim to finish, and we’re saving up for the fridge that matches our other appliances, but I couldn’t be happier with the result.
Some of my fave details: our old trouble light/edison bulb penant lamps, the glass doors in the corner cabinets, the corian countertop + my new breakfast bar w/ the turquoise stools. We’re holding out for some Toledo drafting stools, but these are fun in the meantime!
We also got rid of a bedroom on the main floor and opened up the walls that once closed off the room. Now our main floor is wide open and I love it!
WAY more grown up, right? I’m in love with my table – and our centerpiece was one of the centerpieces from our wedding.
So what do you think? Better huh?
I hope you had an awesome weekend!
As Sunday dies down, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the weekend and take time to truly appreciate my life. The months have been absolutely flying by, and it was great to spend time this weekend being silly with my hubby, working on a fun invitation project, spending time with my little sister in law and celebrating my mom’s 60th birthday with her friends from college.
The next few weeks are going to be insane + wonderful – I can’t wait to see what they bring too!
I hope you had some time to enjoy your weekend too!
Happy Friday loves!
Today I want to share with you a new adventure my hubby is taking on – Post Monroe Antiques!
We just got a booth at a local flea market so we could start selling our fun vintage finds + he’s launching an online store in the near future.
The name came from our families – his mother’s maiden name is Post and Monroe is my grandmother’s maiden name. He’s really excited for the debut + I’ll be sharing some more of the fun things we find here on the blog.
If you’re searching for something vintage for your own wedding, there’s a good chance we’ve come across it. Contact us if you want us to keep our eye out for something in particular!
We did a mini photoshoot on Saturday in our dining room, it was too much fun.
I’d love it if you’d stop by his website at postmonroeantiques.com (he even built the site himself for the most part!) or show him some love on Facebook.
Can’t wait to share some of our fun finds with you!
Happy Wednesday Lovelies.
I’ve been finding tons of inspirational quotes on Pinterest lately + am really loving them, so today I thought I would create my own for you.
I love this: Live is either an adventure or nothing.
We sometimes get bogged down in the details so much that we forget to stop, look around and enjoy the ride.
Whatever you’re dealing with today, just remember that all you have going on is part of the adventure – make it count.
Have a lovely Wednesday!
Today I’m heading to Minneapolis to spend the weekend with my lovely high school bffs – I can’t wait for a much needed getaway of vintage shopping and laughing for no reason at all.
One thing we might do? Tour a well-known letterpress shop in Minneapolis (not sure which one!). This makes me super excited, I’ve only been to one other letterpress shop, and that was Hatch Show Print in Nashville. I can’t wait to be inspired 🙂
I’ll post some pictures to the Facebook page!
For more fun letterpress pictures, check out my Letterpress Love board on Pinterest.
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

One reason I love being a home owner – you can do whatever you want to the house.
There is no one to tell you that you can’t put holes in the walls, paint the walls or tear down the walls for that matter (which is why I also like having a handy husband!).
With lots of projects going on in our house, we are always looking for inspiration for our next room remodel. And since we’ve started going to auctions and flea markets, I feel like our style has changed.
Less new stuff, more vintage reworkings.
I’m in love with the way things are turning out . In fact, sometime soon I will show you a before and after of my brand new kitchen, which should be done in just a week or so.
So today, I’m sharing with you some home inspiration I found on Pinterest:
I think I’m in love with everything about this photo. The color of the chair, the light, the rug – even the cup of coffee with a mini biscotti sitting there on the table.
My favorite part though is the wall.
I struggle with hanging things on the walls in our home because I want to hang something unique. I want to magically pair pieces together and throw them up on the wall in a cluster like this and have them look amazing. Not sure I can pull it off, but it’s definitely a goal of mine.
What do you think? Couldn’t you just curl up in that chair and read a book?

It’s a dream of mine to own my own office or studio one day.
There are so many different ways I want to decorate it, but I know for sure there needs to be an entire wall of bookshelves.
And a rolling ladder. Just for fun.
Sooorrta like this:
With a little bit of industrial grunge:
But for sure lots of color. And random typography. Right?

It’s New Years Eve and my hubby and I are two crazy kids – you can tell by the pic. Paint swatches – what??
He’s working on our beautiful new kitchen and I’m sitting here in my brand new dining room planning
some amazing stuff for 2012.
It’s 3.5 hours til midnight and it just wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t pay tribute to such a wonderful year.
2011 was amazing.
I found an ‘adult’ job and got promoted to lead designer 6 months in.
I took a chance and invested in myself and my dreams – which I don’t usually do.
I joined a community of lots of women and a few men who have the same dreams that I do.
I sat down and wrote out the things I love to do and then created a business around those things.
I had flourishing friendships and caught up with old friends.
I traveled to places like Cape Canaveral, New York City, Nashville and Denver.
I worked my butt off to build this blog, and my hard work is paying off.
I stepped out of my comfort zone more than once.
I dreamed big and I’m starting to see those dreams come true.
There is lots in store for 2012, and I can’t wait to share those dreams and goals with you.
But for now, I just want to wish you a safe and happy New Year and thank you for your devotion in 2011.
I wouldn’t be here without you.
