While Mondays are not always our favorite day, you can at least count on Music Monday on the Oh, What Love blog.
Today’s song is one of my personal favorites and has been for a few years now. Upbeat and cheery, it’s perfect for almost any type of wedding:
Such Great Heights by The Postal Service
I envision this song as the song you play when you walk back down the aisle as husband and wife or as the song playing when you arrive at your reception.
My favorite line?
“I am thinking it’s a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they’re perfectly aligned.”
Ahh. If that isn’t bliss, I don’t know what is 🙂
Here’s the video and the rest of the lyrics.
Please note, once again, that this is not what I envisioned the music video to be!
I envisioned a colorful hot air balloon floating over green pastures – not a scene from outer space.
Funny how we see things differently in our minds, huh?
I am thinking it’s a sign that the freckles In our eyes are mirror images and when We kiss they’re perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself Did make us into corresponding shapes like Puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch, but Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled Head when you’re away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for Several weeks of shows and when you scan The radio, I hope this song will guide you home
They will see us waving from such great Heights, ‘come down now,’ they’ll say But everything looks perfect from far away, ‘come down now,’ but we’ll stay…
I tried my best to leave this all on your Machine but the persistent beat it sounded Thin upon listening
And that frankly will not fly. You will hear The shrillest highs and lowest lows with The windows down when this is guiding you home
They will see us waving from such great Heights, ‘come down now,’ they’ll say But everything looks perfect from far away, ‘come down now,’ but we’ll stay…
They will see us waving from such great Heights, ‘come down now,’ they’ll say But everything looks perfect from far away, ‘come down now,’ but we’ll stay…
Light, bright and airy. It’s the perfect, sunny day wedding song, right?
