Music Monday: Time and Confusion

| Music, Wedding Ideas

Happy Monday! I hope you had a GREAT weekend and got to celebrate Father’s Day with your loved ones!
I took a mini road trip to see one of my favorite bands, Anberlin, play an acoustic show. I think seeing bands live makes me appreciate their music so much more, and I know I’ll have my Anberlin playlist on Spotify on repeat for the next few weeks.

One of my favorite songs of their’s is called Time and Confusion. It’s about making it through the hard times together, and even though things may not be ideal, you’ve got each other.

My favorite line:

When memories fade
We’ve got each other
When time and confusion collide
I hold it all when I hold you

I truly feel this way in my relationship with Justin – when I have him, I have everything I need. That’s what love and marriage is all about 🙂

Ah! I love it!

Music Monday: Island

| Inspiration, Music, Wedding Ideas

The Starting Line has been one of my favorite bands for a while now, and I fell in love with them even more after seeing them live on their last tour a few years ago.

Today’s song, Island, was one of my favorites off the last album they recorded together. I like it so much because it reminds me of summer and escaping away to some place tropical with my love.

My favorite line:

Let’s sail away, find our own country
We’ll build a house and beds out of palm trees
Let’s get away, Let’s push our lives aside

Hope you have a lovely Monday!

Music Monday: Free

| Music, Wedding Ideas

Hello again Monday!

Hope you had a lovely weekend – mine was lazy and perfect, which was must needed! Justin and I watched a movie together for the first time in weeks!

Today’s song I hold close to my heart : Free by Zac Brown Band.

So much about this song embodies me and Justin’s relationship – we’ve been together for 8 years and don’t have any babies yet, so we feel like we really are free. As much as we want little ones, we love being able to just get in the car and drive, spend money on stupid things and stay up late laying under the stars (ha.. which we’ve only done once as much as I love it).

The song came out right at the time of our wedding and I literally felt like we were going to have no money in our bank account when we got home from our honeymoon, and I really though all we needed was love.

I know that I will cherish this time of our lives, and I think this song is a perfect anthem for this chapter.

My favorite part:

We’ll drive until the city lights
Dissolve into a country sky
Just me and you

Lay underneath the harvest moon
Do all the things that lovers do
Just me and you

They also have a version where they sing part of ‘Into the Mystic’ in the middle, and that is amazing.

What song defines your relationship? I’d love to hear about it in the comments 🙂

Music Monday: It’s You

| Music

Whew! Happy Memorial Day everyone!

It has been an amazing whirlwind of a weekend – I got to celebrate the holiday with the wedding of one of my very best friends. It was such a gorgeous day + I’ve had SO much fun the past few weeks helping her get all of the details in order. I am so happy for Lindsay + Eric – they’re perfect for each other.

Today’s Music Monday is a song by Michelle Branch: It’s You.

Such a simple and sweet song. My favorite line:

If tomorrow never comes
I would want just one wish
To kiss your quiet mouth
Trace the steps with my fingertips

So lovely. Listen to the song below:

How are you celebrating this holiday weekend?

Music Monday: Ships in the Night

| Inspiration, Life, Music

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend – mine was full of garage sales, graduations + time in the sun. With grad season comes engagement season which is my favorite time of the year! Congrats to anyone who got engaged over the weekend 🙂

Today’s song has been one of my very favorite songs for a while now, especially since I got my husband to like Mat Kearney too (and dress like him.. I love it). The story behind the video for this song, Ships in the Night, is so fun – he travled to 165 different locations around the US and sang the songs hundreds of times to shoot this video. Another fun note – the woman in this video is his wife! She’s so darn adorable, they might be my fav celeb couple.

My favorite lines:
We’re just fumbling through the grey
Trying find a heart that’s not walking away

Feels like we’re learning this out on our own
Trying to find a way down the road we don’t know

I love this song because he doesn’t sugarcoat things – marriage is hard but when you find that heart that’s worth it, you can make it through anything.

Watch the video, you won’t be disappointed.

Sorry for such a long post, I can’t help but ramble on about my favorite artist. Mat Kearney never ceases to amaze with with songs that somehow fit every aspect of my life.

Have an extra lovely week this week!

Music Monday: When It Don’t Come Easy

| Music

Happy Monday!

I hope you got to spend Mother’s Day with your lovely families yesterday! Moms are great, aren’t they?

Today I’m sharing a great song with you – When It Don’t Come Easy by Patty Griffin.

I’m in love with this song – my sister introduced it to me, and you can find me belting it out at the top of my lungs when I hear it.

My favorite part:
But if you break down
I’ll drive out and find you
If you forget my love
I’ll try to remind you
And stay by you when it don’t come easy

Listen to it here:

Music Monday: Everything

| Music, Wedding Ideas

Happy Monday!

Today’s song comes from Michael Bublé – Everything. Such a classy song, I can see it going perfectly with a black and white wedding with a stunning bride and a well tailored groom. Can’t you see it?

My favorite line:

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It’s you, it’s you, you make me sing.
You’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything.

Have a great week!

Music Monday: Loud Music

| Inspiration, Music, Wedding Ideas

Hello loves! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I celebrated my brother’s marriage on Saturday and it was such a special day. After being married for 8 years and it not working out, they decided to end it. They never lost their love for each other though and found their way back into each other’s arms again. My favorite part was watching them dance to ‘True Companion’ just like they had always talked about. Brought tears to my eyes!

Now on to today’s song.

I’ve loved Michelle Branch’s music for years – I remember listening to her Spirit Room CD on repeat when it came out.

She has come out with some new stuff recently that I am in love with, and today’s song is one of them – Loud Music.

Here’s one of my favorite lines:

It was like my life began that day
I still remember what the jukebox started to play
And then we had to take it on the road
Start me up like a rolling stone

I’m in love with the video – she is too adorable.

Music Monday: Ours

| Music, Wedding Ideas

I’m not gonna lie to you – I like Taylor Swift. She’s fun + she’s real + she’s adorable.

Plus my sister drives me by her apartment whenever I visit her in Nashville, so I feel like I have some sort of inside scoop with her.

Today’s song is one of Taylor’s newer ones – Ours.

My favorite line is the chorus – and I like it mainly because the things people say can bring you down, but really as long as you’ve got love, nothing else matters.

So don’t you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water’s rough
But this love is ours

Here’s the video, it’s pretty cute.

Happy Monday!

Music Monday: Maybe I’m Amazed

| Life, Music

Today’ s Music Monday may make you laugh, it may bring back memories of watching every episode of the OC on Thursday nights way back when.

The song is Maybe I’m Amazed (The Jem version) and it was played on the last episode of Season 1 of the OC at Caleb and Julie’s wedding.

Justin and I got out all of our OC boxed sets last year and rewatched them all, and I have to say it was a fun little blast from the past. So fun that I’ve been watching season one episodes again at any chance I can get. Seriously my most current guilty pleasure.

My favorite line from this song:

Maybe i’m amazed at the way you pulled me out of time,

You hung me on the line.

Maybe i’m amazed at the way i really need you.

Here’s a clip from the OC episode:

Haha, did this bring back memories for you?
