In the Shop: Tin Type Photos

Isn’t vintage camera gear fun? I’ve got a small collection of cameras from the 20s and 30s, and I love looking through antique photographs and tintypes.

I just ran across a whole tote full of tintypes. Tintypes are made from a thin sheet of iron with a photographic emulsion, and they were popular in the late 1800s – which is why I think they are so fun. You can’t think of too many things that are from the 1800s and are still around today, and I love imagining what life was like for the people in the photographs.

Don’t you wish you knew these peoples’ story? And look at those clothes and the detail in the decor. So fancy.

I have these tintypes listed in my Etsy shop right now, but if you’re looking for more (think men with long beards, children, etc) I’ve got a bunch I’m willing to sell. Just send me  a quick note and we can work something out!
